Welcome to the Western Shepherd Dog Club of America

The Western Shepherd Dog Club of America (WSDCoA) is the only affiliate group sanctioned by Butch Cappel of Cappel Canine – the founder of the Western Shepherd Breed. Our goal is to preserve, protect, and promote the breed and breed standard established by Butch.

Butch set out to modernize the German Shepherd Dog; to create the ideal working companion dog for today’s world – a dog that is loyal, smart, a natural protector but also low maintenance and able to go from work to play to rest and back again.
